Primary Tuesday
Primary elections are being held in 12 states today. The races I'll be watching include:
Nevada - The Republican Primary race has three participants, Sharron Angle, Danny Tarkanian, and former state Senator Sue Lowden. All eyes are on Sharron Angle who is being supported by the Tea Party voters. As of this writing, both Angle and Tarkanian would win over Senator Harry Reid in a face-to-face contest. The outcome of this race will be fascinating.
Arkansas - Senator Blanche Lincoln's run-off race against Lt. Gov Bill Halter ends today in the voting booth. Halter is heavily supported by the unions; Lincoln won the endorsement of former President Bill Clinton. These two candidates have spent more than $10 million combined, making this one of the most expensive campaigns in Arkansas history.
California - Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard has a significant lead over former Rep. Tom Campbell in the Republican primary race for the spot to challenge Sen. Barbara Boxer in November. The Tea Party favorite, Chuck DeVore has not found his traction in this race. The Governor's race is also one to watch with Meg Whitman, former eBay CEO leading the race for the Republican nomination. Attorney General Jerry Brown is expected to easily take the Democratic nomination.
The results of these and other elections across the country may give us a better idea of what to expect in November, or they may muddy the waters further. Either way, it's political theatre at its finest.
