Is or Isn't He Going to Run?
I'm really surprised at all of the conversation I hear swirling around Donald Trump's possible run for president. I'll just say up front, I don't think he'll run. And if he does run, I don't think he'll make it through the primaries.
I will say, however, that I think he's responsible for broadening the conversation related to the 2012 Presidential Campaign. His talk about running is causing people to think outside of the box about what the right candidate looks like.
I hope that means the days are gone when we assume a candidate has to come from the political arena. Do we really have to have candidates that have been in the congress, in state legislature, a governor? No. I think we need candidates that have experience running something. People who know what it's like to run a business. To supervise others. People who have had enough failures to know what works and what doesn't. People who have experienced failure that know how to take a risk.
I'm not impressed with Donald Trump as a presidential candidate. I'm also not impressed with John Bolton. But I think the fact that the two of them are out in the media talking about running is a good thing. They make me think.
